Hello, new Hoosiers! Hoosier Welcome is comprised of events, performances, fairs, and so much more throughout August and September! Check out all there is to offer and follow FYE for more content all year long.

Schedule overview

  • OIS Early Move–In: Begins Sunday, August 9

  • OIS Ice Cream Social: 5–7 p.m., Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, South Lawn
  • Rec Sports Sneak Peek: 7–9 p.m., SRSC

  • Hoosier Fest: 2–4 p.m., Franklin Hall (Presidents Hall)

  • Grand Move-In Day: 8 a.m.–4 p.m. – Check in at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall during your reserved move-in date and time.
  • Hoosier Parent Lounge: 11 a.m.–5 p.m. - A place for families to recharge and enjoy light refreshments. IMU Frangipani Room (main level). Sign up in advance. 
  • 21st Century Scholars Open House: 9 a.m.–4 p.m., 300 N Eagleson Ave. 21st Century Scholars: Stop by our office to meet us, get to know our building, ask any questions, and enjoy snacks and refreshments.

  • Grand Move-In Day: 8 a.m.–4 p.m. – Check in at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall during your reserved move-in date and time.
  • Residence hall floor meetings (evening, check with your resident assistant for exact time/place)
  • Hoosier Parent Lounge: 11 a.m.–5 p.m. - A place for families to recharge and enjoy light refreshments. IMU State Rooms East & West (second floor). Sign up in advance. 

  • IU Corps Day of Service: All day - Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity or Bloomington Pride
  • Jam and Jelly Brunch: 11 a.m.–2 p.m., Forest Quad (brunch with meal swipe) / Kinsey Hollow for activities
  • Faith Fest: 12–2 p.m., Dunn Meadow
  • IU Corps Open House: 1–4 p.m., Maxwell Hall
  • Union Board FireFest: 7 p.m.–1 a.m., Dunn Meadow

  • Paint a Pot & Decorate Your Home: 11 a.m.–1 p.m., IMU Solarium and Centennial Patio
  • Pulling Out the Stops: Observe the Organ: 2:30–3:30 p.m., IMU Alumni Hall
  • Jump Into the Semester: 5–7 p.m., IU Outdoor Pool
  • IU Guides will help you navigate campus. Map out your classes the day before your classes begin with the help of IU Guides, who will be spread out all over campus 3–5 p.m.!

  • First Day of School Photos: 10 a.m.–2 p.m., IMU Centennial Patio
  • Health Promotion Open House: 2–4 p.m., Wellness House
  • IU Guides will help you navigate campus!

  • Kelley Carnival: 1–4 p.m., Waller Courtyard

  • Big Red Rodeo, 6–10 p.m., Dunn Meadow. Come on out for live country and folk music, games, bounce houses, crafts, vendors, and more.
